Here we wanted to highlight the fact that our government and the CCR (the Commission for Communications Regulation, formerly known by the name of ODTR, now ComReg) keep talking about the importance of competition in the telecommunications market to improve the situation – but it seems to be only hollow talk. While OLOs (other licensed operators) share a meagre enough 21 percent of the telecommunications market, our government spends about 98 percent of its own substantial communications budget on Eircom. That's where the idea of Pinocchio's nose that grew longer when he lied came in.
