Before starting libel proceedings
We may personally well have no doubts that some of the people responsible for the Irish internet disaster clearly belong to the category of people, whom my granny would have advised to thank god each and every day for the fact that he did not make stupidity a painful condition, but we have no intention to damage their personal character in any way. All our criticism is solely directed towards their professional and political capacities.

While it may appear that we do place the monopoly telecom EIRCOM in the same category as common handbag thiefs, don't rush to libel proceeding, before reading this clarification:
We consider both the actions of the handbag thief and of EIRCOM ( as far as they concern their internet pricing and strategy) as deplorable, stupid, unethical, illegal and damaging our society.
But there are vital differences: handbag thieves rob a small percentage of the population, the amounts taken are generally small and never do they take from the same person on a monthly basis. As well they mostly know that it is wrong what they are doing and they risk prison sentences and social exclusion if found out.

EIRCOM on the other side can misuse their monopoly status with impunity, they take a lot of money of a lot of people every month of the year. Their internet strategy is damaging our society to the extent of causing a national catastrophe The worst thing that can happen to them, if they a found out is, that their takings may be reduced a little bit. The social status of their managers is considerable and even rises with the amount of money taken.

So, you handbag thieves out there, if you still think our comparison is libellous, write in to us and we are prepared to clarify further.

All our articles are researched to the best of our knowlegde and ability. If you feel we need to be corrected, we are open to your suggestions and endeavour to put things right.

We expect that content of a satirical character is taken as that.

We have no party political or business interests with this project and expect contributors to declare theirs if relevant.
Our sole interest is to enhance the common good of this society – which we deem to be greatly endangered by the current circumstances.
