More Information on South Korea
Two articles in the influential The Register illustrate the strides South Korea is making with broadband. While the South Koreans sure-footedly step further ahead our own regulator tries to belittle their success: In her recent radio interview our ODTR boss Etain Doyle attempted to reduce the South Korean broadband roll-out success to the prevalence of apartment blocks there. And in its FUTURE DELIVERY OF BROADBAND consultation paper our ODTR finds it “interesting to note” a lack of “a content-rich environment” in South Korea, and goes on to mock that “much of the content that has driven broadband penetration is end-user generated (e.g. gaming and online schoolwork).”
