What's it about?

We are about…

...the grotesque fact that reading this website here in Ireland for10 minutes will cost you over 50 cent in your phone bill, that email is more expensive than letter mail.

We are about the fact, that Ireland has fallen to last place in terms of Internet usage among the developed countries.

We are about the fact, that this is a national catastrophe which will have severe detrimental effects on a wide range of areas: education, economic growth, economic competitiveness, teleworking, traffic congestion…

We are about the fact that one severely sick (11 000 employees – 5 000/6 000 of them are superfluous) private Telecom company is allowed to sabotage the development of the Internet in Ireland.

We are about the fact that the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation – ODTR – is facilitating EIRCOM's misuse of its monopolist position, rather than regulating against it.

We are about the fact, that the ODTR is deliberately misinforming the public and the decision makers about the dire state of the Internet in Ireland and its own failure over the last five years.

We are about to change that.
And we are about to change that now, because there is no time to lose.
Sure, in five years or so a tribunal would be set up to investigate the Irish Internet catastrophe and it would duly find out – just as most of the other tribunals have – that the gist of the problem was the failure by the state and its institutions to recognize the plentiful warning signs, its inability to see the bigger picture, its inability and unwillingness to regulate against powerful private company interests, its blindness to the dire consequences of their policies.
